I bought craft ideas.. I did not buy 50 pieces of things for the kids to make. I was going to make a few things, ask some of my neighborhood kids which one(s) they would want to make.... and then buy some more of those and so on. I am a sale shopper, and when I see things on sale that I can use in a future, I buy them.. mix that with a hobby lobby 50% off coupon... sold to the cheapest person alive, me.
I am fine doing whatever. It was a "joint" decision when a handfull of the people truly interested in making this a fun event all agreed to do a football game, entertain the kids so the parents can have fun, and to have some good food. But we can change whatever. I am thinking as a mom here.... and the kids need to be somewhat entertained in order for the adults to truly enjoy themselves. Remember... "my kids are my indentity"..... so I do whatever I can to make sure they have fun as well as me and my husband. I have had a very bad week, as some may know a fellow friend and daybreak resident lost their newborn baby and its been a sad sad week for many of us who know the family.
Since we are changing things around... here is an idea. I dont want to state the name of the family, but if we choose to do this, then we can talk to the family and get permission to do so.
What about instead of having a bunch of soup etc etc.... bake sale? or something, to raise money for the family and their charity? Make it truly a Thanksgiving event.
