How on earth do you access the dog park? The pup and I cruised around yesterday trying to find it, but cannot figure out how to get to it. There doesn't appear to be any parking or easy entry...

yeah its sucks...KL said it would be ready by end of August. It would be nice if the HOA or KL would explain why they didn;t deliver as they said they would...there are many issues still with the park and I know Luckyfish Landscaping offered to help with the fixing of the park. It doesn;t make any sence why the HOA or KL wouldn't take Luckyfish up on their offer and work with them to get it done ASAP...

Hey Lava,
Yes, the dog park is hard to find, and it doesn't have parking. We have found two places to access the park. On 4000 West just south of the temple and north of the barb wire fence is a path made by construction equipment. You can park there and walk through the dirt and sticker weeds up to the walking path where you will see the gate. Don't wear flip flops!!!

Or, park on Open Crest where it ends just southwest of the temple site. Follow the trail always with the downward slope. You will see the park and the gate once you crest the hill and start down.

I see LuckyFish there, cleaning up, almost everyday. Since KL has left the park to languish, the noxious weeds were taking over. Several paws have been hurt running through the mess. LuckyFish took time to clear as much of the evil plants as possible. Now you can have a relatively safe run on the large side. Another resident took time to eradicate a fire ant pile. Nice that the residents care.

The park still has some large stones (4-8inches) in the running areas. Each visit we pick some up and throw them over the fence. Watch out for the metal edging around the seating area.

The dog park seems to have taken a back seat to every other project in the community. They don't waste any time finishing the other parks. I guess KL thinks a dog park won't be used. It's not finished and I see people there enjoying it as much as any other park in Daybreak.

Thanks, GI, and you're right, the park is hard to find, there is no parking, and, yet, the HOA has missed its target again. It is being used by folks who aren't Daybreak residents and we spend a lot of time up there, mowing and picking up little doggie souvenirs. I know that you and Devra share a lot of passion about the park but you should have seen her, this past weekend, riding a mower with her broken foot to chop down the weeds and thorny plants. Access is obscure and I think the HOA and Kennecott are stalling the opening until next year because the Pet Parents Club, here in Daybreak, gave them a set of proposed rules which were gleaned from pet parks and pet organizations throughout the country and our "leaders" are "checking with their lawyer". At least, that's what we were told a couple of months ago. Until then, we are changing the provided doggie poop bags (the HOA wouldn' tgive us a key to the doggie stations but we came up with one, anyway), hauling away trash and keeping the park up, with the help of friends and interested parties. If anyone wants to visit the park or help out, please call. P.S. Dev says it's also not handicap accessible, either, except by walking the trails or four-wheeling it.
