There, I just gave you some good karma.

So, has anyone suggested that we (anonymous forum posters) get together? I would love to see some of the characters IRL.

Obviously, my picture is posted by my name, so I am not hiding. Now now now, dont come and attack me from behind and say that you are not hiding. Yes I know this is a public board, its not like I am saying my address is 100 daybreak lane. Some people its obvious who they are, Don, and Bob I know, I think Devra is out there.... somewhere. Russ is here, there are a few peeps from the old message board on here. Trying to figure out who "girlinterrupted" is... I may have an idea, but I am not sure.
back to the issue at hand.... Football season is upon us, we need to seriously plan a fun event! We can even invite those on this board that dont live in daybreak... question regarding that... if you dont live here in Daybreak, why are you on this board? Get a kick out of seeing how Stepford is ran?

Here is the reality...for whatever reason the community has withdrawn support of the community activities. If you want great community activities you have to get the community to buy in. A great way to do that is to give them ownership of the events. I think the failure here is a two way street. We expect Tina to do it all and then when it doesn't turn out the way we wanted we blame Tina. I have also seen a failure of the community to step up the plate and actually become involved and own their portion of community. The community Lifestyle Director needs to answer to the homeowners and not CCMC. The spoiler has been at Derek's level and higher because that is who the lifestyle director answers to. We as a community need to realize that high end catered cocktail parties are only great to introduce people not to sustain community. Community is built by sweating, crying, playing and laughing together. I am not in favor of having the discussion centering on what the lifestyle director gets paid. The reality is her salary costs us pennies a month. I am in favor of having that position set apart from the HOA and having him/her answer to a homeowner's advisory board. I think it is time for homeowners to have more input into the governance of our own community.

kevin, I dont know how much Tina gets paid to be exact.. it was a guess from what I have heard in passing. I do agree with you regarding everything you said. I just feel that we, the community dont get much say in activities, we the community of daybreak get. Lets change things up. We have luau every year, fine... fun stuff for the kids. But lets have other small budget, activities, and leave the planning up to us, the community. How hard would be it to plan a tail gate, turkey bowl party? Even if we only had 400 people there, if everyone brought something to contribute, food wise... we would be set. Someone brings a football, we arrange some teams... voila.. DONE. If we did it for the BYU/U game... we rent the huge screen, each family pays hmmm $2 for that and we all watch the game while chatting and visiting with neighbors. I dont enjoy coctail style parties... honestly I have 3 kids..... I like doing family friendly things. Of course it would be great to have adult activities, no kids allowed... we do.. daybreak sweetheart ball. Lets forms some more clubs aimed directly for Empty nesters, singles groups, recipe exchange club etc etc. We have a empty nesters group, we have a win group... which I understand are great! I just think we need more GROUP fun activities...... at the community center, at the parks, at the huge field. We can have so much fun together!

ok.. A- i need to check the board more often b/c it took me a while to catch up to speed here.

B- Maybe we should have a board called EVENTS and the discussion on the board decide what kind of event to have next. maybe that could be a poll- what event would you (the community) like to have next... etc. (scoop?)? If all we do is come up with these sometimes GREAT ideas.. but only say them online and then abandon all hope after logging off... then there is no point to any of this. There's a good portion of people online, obviously b/c they are interested in their community.. well why not have this board start a section on EVENTS and WE will decide. Forget the bigger picture... take it 1 event at a time and more people will feed off that energy. My fiance (husband in 50 days and counting) are new to this neighborhood (entire utah state actually) and really want to get involved in our new community, BUT haven't found a way to do so... let's start this positive FORWARD motion here guys/gals/neighbors and friends.

and finally, C- I am a girl and would LOVE to play some touch football... lets make it a co-ed game! =)
