Oquirrh Lake 16 Years, 1 Month ago Karma: 12
Someone told me at a recent City of SoJo meeting, the director of Parks said the city would take over Oquirrh Lake in about 4 years. The city stated the lake would be 65 acres

The lake was originaly advertised as 100 acres. It was changed to 85 acres just recently. Now, I'm wondering how it shrunk to 65 acres. After all, the lake water isn't that warm.

They recently scrapped the idea and plans for a small "off-shoot" that was to be to the west of the lake, the one that had the boat slips for some of the homes.

I was told that eliminating the off shoot took the lake from the original 100 acres to 85 acres.

I've really struggled with the lake ever since I moved my family here last May. When we purchased our home we build close to the lake, but I often regret this decision. Every Saturday and Sunday the lake is over run by people from outside of Daybreak. I don't have a problem with families wanting to come here to fish or enjoy the trails, but it's a little frustrating when I look out my bedroom window and see the Clampet family out catching dinner in my neighborhood.

Why doesn't the HOA set up designated fishing areas near the office building on the south end of the lake? Why isn't it manditory that anyone launching a boat has to do so from the boat slips at the marina? And why doesn't the Daybreak "security" enforce the rules of the lake?

If they would close the lake to fishing, the kind of people that fish for food out of a community lake would be more inclined to go elsewhere.

I know I sound like jerk, but the HOA is set up to protect my house value and the integrity of the community, and I don't think they are doing a very good job.

I would think you would be trying to get in good with the Clampets. With the price of oil these days, they are loaded!!!

Very funny, and I agree that the Clampets will soon not have to fish for their dinner any longer. Gas is 3.65 where I live.
