Charging for passengers in boats 15 Years, 8 Months ago

I've been trying to get an answer from the HOA to see if the policy of charging non-resident PASSENGERS in boats that the homeowner is taking out was going to change.
After 2 phone calls and 3 emails, I finally got an answer!
From Derek:
Mr. Young,
At this time there is no decision made that varies from the current policy.

Its totally a cheap shot for the HOA to charge guests. Granparents have visiting grandchildren, nieces and nephews visit etc etc. I can see MAYBE charging a small fee for a extra boat that will be used... but if my husband and I both get a boat, and we have a few guests in each boat, i dont think they/we should be charged $5 per person. Its just another way to make alot of money. But are they making money off the boats? How is it OK for non residents to bring their own boats and boat around for free. So can I just get a boat from the dock, and go over to another dock and load my friends and family in? Sheesh.. so lame

When Derek was hired...there was a perception that he would make the HOA a friendlier entity who had a high customer service quality. The reduction in our amenity access, charging for items we thought we paid for in our fees, Making it difficult and expensive to have our guests enjoy the lifestyle we bought into is not customer service...it's foolish.

Bingo!! Good idea! As long as they don't need life jackets or can bring their own.

We've seen it done numerous times since the policy of charging guests went into effect. It's actually quite humerous... we saw an entire family pile in, only to unload at a dock switching out the life jackets to the kids on the dock and load them in!

Very tempting. Ever since going to girls camp this summer with the stake, Lakes really dont excite me, especially falling in. So I am fine watching my husband take the kids out with his siblings etc etc..... For a while I thought maybe part of the lake should be for swimming.... then we wouldnt need another pool. But would you really want to swim in water ON/IN Kennecott land? You may give birth to 2 headed baby or grow another limb yourself. I think I will use the canoe switch out with some friends.... hee hee
