My Fiance and I just moved into one of the Eastlake model homes.. we are totally new to the area.. and even to Utah actually (just moved to utah in Jan.).. how do we even get started here? I have read a good chunk of the forum threads and we are starting to feel a bit over whelmed. Anyone have any good ideas how to meet people and get involved? We want to be in the loop! (the homes all around us are empty.. so we have no neighbors to meet!) help appreciated!

There are a lot of gatherings in the neighborhood, and we will be having a wine tasting party this Saturday night at 7:00 at Jen Anderson's House. She lives at 10984 Coralville Way in Eastlake. It is an informal gathering. Everyone brings a bottle of wine and an appetizer to share. If you don't drink wine, that is okay too. I will post the event in a seperate spot on this site as well. Once a month some ladies from daybreak get together and have a girls night out. We go to the movies, hang out at someones house and eat snacks, play games, go out to dinner etc etc. Its really fun, and not at all limited to a certain religion or faith. Everyone welcome...... its a nice way to meet people! let me know if you are interested. The next event will be Wednesday July 30th, we will meet at the bangerter crossing harmons and eat their yummy gelato, and plan out the rest of the year events.

Welcome to Daybreak, Jess! My wife has met a lot of friends by attending the exercise classes in the community center. I think you will find the people that live in and are moving to Daybreak to be generally friendly. It is not a very good place to live like a hermit, with small yards, shared green spaces, and other shared amenities. The very design of Daybreak fosters neighborliness...that is why most of us moved here. So don't be afraid to strike up conversations with others at parks, the lake, etc. You will be amazed who you can meet that way. And like others mentioned, make sure you get your e-mail added to the communitiy annoucements so you can be informed of upcoming events.
