It's ironic to hear "Why not think of others for a change" in the same breath as "socialism is bad". Maybe you don't see the irony in that, but I do! "Thinking of others for a change", to me, means being willing to pay into a community internet program so that everyone can enjoy the discounts we were promised.

Also, I don't see HOA services as "socialism". We all bought into a community with full awareness of the existence of an HOA, which controls certain things about the community. This isn't limited to internet service... it includes the way our homes LOOK, rules about what we can and can't do, etc etc. It's not socialism... it's a Homeowners Association. We all knew what you were getting into when we moved to Daybreak.

There are many of us for whom the included/discounted internet was a HUGE selling point when purchasing here. I'm one of those people. So many of you are on these boards constantly talking about broken promises from the HOA. Well, included discounted internet going away would be a HUGE broken promise. It was a huge draw for me when deciding to move here. My internet bill went from over $60/month to around $35. To me, that really makes the fact that I'm living in a single family home paying an HOA fee an easy pill to swallow.

As for the vacant homes, sure, that's annoying. But to pay DOUBLE per month because of that seems like a funny way to save money. It sounds like the HOA would only be responsible for a small portion of those unpaid bills anyway. I don't have a problem with that, or the delinquent accounts. It sounds like that have a pretty good solution in place for that. And if it saves me $30/month, I'm in!

As for those of you who want a provider other than Qwest? Well, I'd say that's a fair argument. But again, you purchased in Daybreak with this bulk internet HOA contract in place. You made the choice to agree to it. Also, it sounds like Qwest is taking great leaps to make customer service much better for us Daybreak residents, and even have options to upgrade if it's not fast enough. As someone who has had extensive experience with BOTH comcast and qwest, I can say that I've had a much better experience with Qwest over the last 10 years. By far.

So yes, I would hope that most people wouldn't be selfish, and buy into the discounted program to benefit themselves, and the whole community. To me it's a no brainer.

I voted for option 1. I hope most others did too.

I don't mean to come off harsh. I hope it doesn't. I'm thankful that we have a vote, so that everyone's opinions are heard. I just also hope and pray that my internet bill isn't about to double.

So I'm just supposed to pay for Internet service that never worked and I may not actually want just for your benefit? Sounds like redistribution of wealth to me. Chairman Mao would be proud.

Aside from any political discussion you seem to be having about this, YES, I think we should all, as agreed when we moved to daybreak, buy into the community internet service so we can all enjoy the discount. If you didn't like it, why did you agree to it when you moved here?

Never worked for you? How? Do you think all the rest of us should have our bill doubled for the few people who have had difficulties?

The argument could go in circles and circles. Everyone's opinion is valid. I am glad we are all getting the chance to vote. And for your sake, I truly hope that Qwest finds a way to take care of you as you deserve.

I would like to know what the HOA intends to do with the 10% revenue sharing that Qwest will give them with option 1?

It is odd that they didn't mention what they would do with that money. I should think that this money should help pay for those that aren't paying their dues and are in default (especially since we'll still be on the hook for 90 days, which is better than the current situation) or some other means that leads to the HOA NOT raising our dues in 2011.
