Energy saving letter and packet 15 Years, 6 Months ago Karma: 18
Did we all get the recent letter and packet from Don Whyte, president of KL and "Daybreak resident" telling us that all homeowners had to change their mindsets regarding energy savings? I love this guy's sense of humor and his condescending and insulting tone. Maybe KL should look inward before pointing fingers. It's easy to see KL's wasteful ways: every light on all night at the Rio Tinto building (hey, Mr. Whyte, the cleaners can turn on lights as they go from place to place), watering weed patches in the rain despite the state of the art radio-controlled watering system and the sprinklers still running after the HOA sends out an announcement telling us to turn off ours a week or so ago. A piece of crap, Mr. Whyte.

Was it sent out because KL promised Rocky Mountain Company that we'd all sign up for the Blue Sky Program or the Power Saver program enabling RMPC to turn off our air conditioners. I save energy because it's so expensive, Mr. Whyte. Leave the insults for your own drivers who endanger all of us residents at the round about, several times a day.

I find the biggest irony to be the fact that EVERY house in Daybreak is already Energy Star certified but yet RMP and KL are pushing their Blue Star program very hard here. Go push it on the older, less efficient neighborhoods and leave us alone. Same thing could be said about water conservation. We already have smaller yards and covenant mandated water-saving landscapes. My house also has a hot water circulation system to help with water useage. How much more do they really think we can do? Wouldn't bigger gains be made by instituting conservation policies in the McMansion neighborhoods?

Don't get me wrong. I'm all for a green lifestyle, that's part of why I moved here. In fact, I paid a premium for it. So why do we have to get nasty-grams from Don Whyte telling us to conserve more?

Sending us tons of paper is not GREEN at all. It's wasting green (paper, postage, printing).

Just post the information ONLINE, esp. many of the homes already have internet service.

The KL building is a bright eyesore at night. I wonder if homeowners nearby had issue with the lighting.

Using a California slogan for power conservation, pls "Kill a watt"

On the money (pardon the pun), "Deep", and when I went to the airport this morning about 5 AM, the building was ablaze in it's lighted glory. Not being from CA, I hadn't heard the "Kill-a-watt" catch phrase but I like it.

Sam, the cost of postage and materials must have been excessive to say the least.

I love the HOA statement to those who rent spaces in the RV park to the tune of <KL has directed the HOA to double (almost) the costs for rentals>.
The HOA suggested the increases and the Board of Directors "rubber-stamped" it. Nothing like living high with the homeowners' money. How very congressional of them!

I believe the envelopes that crap came in had the HOA return address, so we probably paid the postage to get them!
On a positive note I see they are dropping the security as of November 1st. That should save $40 worth of gas a day.

I thought the same thing when I got that stupid packet. What a waste. #1 I have seen most of those items in my Welcome to Daybreak packet when I moved into Daybreak over a year and a half ago, or I have gotten them directly from the companies in the mail. 2) They could have used the money they spent on useless packets to us (it honestly had NO information in it that I wasn't aware of or haven't already done) and bought their new matching uniforms that they want to charge us homeowner for.

Way to prioritize!
