The only way a boycott can work is when the masses joined in. Let's say the average dues are $200 x 1800 household, that's $360,000. That's gonna hurt; the late fee won't be gathered immmediately either.

However, they need to know why people are doing so.

"Didn't they also mention five PT employees to watch the splash pool, too?"

Oh, please tell me your joking. Seriously, I've never even seen a splash pond in any nieghborhood being watched and we need 5 of them??? Goes to show how big of a joke our HOA really is!

Actually the HOA gave the Residents the idea of getting rid of the splash pool employee's and have it swim at your own risk. If you wanted to hear the correct information you should have come to the Budget Meeting. The budget hasn't been approved yet so, if you have concerns you might want to talk to the HOA about them. I have.

Actually...I talked to the Derek (HOA)...and for the splash pad/pool the swim at your own risk option was not given as (maybe becuase of the age group the splash pad is for???) I don't know, that option was only given for the Eastlake Pool....

feel free to ask Derek he will confirm this. I actually suggested using the DCC employees in a rotating staff to cover the splash pool. Derek said they did that last year and it left the staff too thin at the DCC, which is why they want 5 part time people just for the splash pool.

Thank you Scoop for providing the correct information. I am interested to know why they would suggest removing the pool staff and not the splash pool. Seems strange to me, especially from what I've seen in other communities. Have you managed to get any information as to why?

As for not attending... many of us have other obligations that prevent us from attending meetings. While I would've liked to have attended, I was unable and therefor rely on others such as Scoop to provide me with the necessary information. Accurate information does tend to pass by, as is evident, whether one attends or not. It also shouldn't be assumed that just because someone doesn't attend that they don't care or they haven't attempted to contact the HOA. It is an incorrect assumption in many cases.

Scoop et. al., The splash pool is grossly under-utilized, now that the Eastlake Pool has opened. Parents just take their children up to the pool because it has a very shallow section. There is no need for constant monitoring since each child must be accompanied by a parent or escort over 18. Similarly, since the HOA has suspended adult-only swim times at the Eastlake Pool due to one resident complaining about age discrimination, I heard that one attendee at the budget meeting pointed out that restrictions for usage based on age at the splash pool (7 or under) will not stand based on that same age-discrimination test. So, it should be open in the future to all ages.

No one complained about staff shortages at the DCC during last year's rotations. The HOA justified the numbers of lifeguards at the Eastlake Pool by saying that one lifeguard would be rotated to the splash pool several times a day. Hiring 5 PT employees for the splash pool and 8 other employees is just irresponsible management given the current budget shortfall. Kind of smacks of the AIG comparision, doesn't it?

The Program Person position could be combined with the Asst. DCC Director's position at the Asst. Director's salary, seamlessly, without any appreciable reduction in the level of service, and at a distinct savings.
