Many of our visitors that are disrespectful of the park and beach are not daybreak residents- most are visitors from Draper, Sandy, Cottonwood heights, West Jordan- even all the way from Ogden to use the "free beach in South Jordan" ( not my word, theirs). Caravans of family reunions and youth conferences are not all residents, yet they are the ones setting up large tents, staking poles in the grass, firing up propane grills that could pose fair hazards, and letting their children swim unsupervised without proper swim diapers. They are the ones clogging up the streets so that emergency vehicles can't drive through, much less residents.

It is true, if everyone was considerate and respectful of the park and beach, we wouldn't have some of these problems. However, much of that disrespect comes from those that don't have an emotional investment of having to look out your window and see the chaos and filth that can be there. These people simply drive home and assume someone else will pick up after them, their children and their dogs. This area is simply not designed to entertain all of SL valley, but that is what it is turning into. Talk to the people that are there on any given day. Very few residents can be found, thanks to the overcrowding.

I do not see any other parks in Daybreak that are abused or disrespected by patrons like Eastlake Park is. If this was a resident issue, more parks in Daybreak would have these issues as well. I remember when the park opened- for the first few weeks it was quite crowded with residents- but seemed realistic and appropriate - yes there were cars, but there were also lot of wagon and bikes in the grass from residents. But once word spread about the free beach, we ended up with the street lined up with cars, much worse than when the park first opened.

As stated at the meeting, this park was not intended to be a public beach and park, but as an amenity for residents. The beach area at North shore is designed for the public, which is pretty obvious simply by looking at the size and large, wide boardwalks and paths. No one is saying visitors cannot come, but if they continue to abuse this "free beach" there won't be much beach left, the park will be ruined and the residents will be the ones footing the bill for repairs. Larger groups should use North Shore- the beach is larger and there are safe, paved areas for grills etc ( if that is even allowed?). Parking is plentiful there as well.

If that means a security person at Eastlake park asking for ID's for a period of time to reduce outside crowding and ensure proper behavior, so be it. We have paid way to much money to get this park up and running, as well as maintenance to ensure it stays that way.
