Concrete curbing issues in Daybreak's Eastlake or North Shore Villages? Print E-mail

Has anyone heard or dealt with the issue of concrete curbing either in Eastlake or Founder's park? As I understand it in Founder's park it was allowed but now in Eastlake and North Shore concrete curbing in the front yard is not allowed by the DRC. Before February 2010 there was no way of knowing this unless you specifically asked the DRC. It wasn't in any documentation available to residents. I recently found out it was in the information given to builders though.

.

Here is a note from an Eastlake Village resident, PLEASE leave your comment on this article so this Daybreak resident can get some feedback…

Beer and Bible... Print E-mail
Written by www.oursouthvalley.com

Are you pondering some of those big questions, “like why am I here?”  ”What is my purpose on earth?” Well then, grab your bible and a brew and talk about it.

.

That is the thinking behind a new group that meets once a week at a pub in South Jordan.  Pastor Charles Hill hosts the brew and bible discussion Monday nights from 7-9 at MacCool’s Public House in the District.

.

Hill says he knows alcohol and the bible may not mix well with many Christians, but he told The Christian Post, he’s willing to go mobile, with beer in hand, “We go where the people are like Jesus did, and of course we are criticized,” said Hill, who had half a beer Monday night. “This is the hardest place in the country to plant a church. They will not come to us. We have to be Jesus and go to them.”  Hill says referring to the large number of people who are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. .

(thanks goes out to the www.oursouthvalley.com team for the article)

Scoop says...two thumbs down...Movie Ticket prices on the rise Print E-mail
Written by Scoop

Some of you may or may have not noticed, but recently the average ticket price of a movie theater ticket has gone up by .50 cents. Now even I don’t think that is much, but it all adds up, especially in this economy. If you look bad to the great depression, the largest growing industry was the entertainment industry, mainly the movie industry. And if you look at the metrics on the strength and growth in our current economy you will see that the movie industry is one of strongest industries and in most cases are seeing a rise in business. So not only are the theaters now charging .50 cents more per ticket, they are selling more tickets, that’s a good formula for a successful business. ..

.

Just in case some of you are wondering where Utah movie ticket prices are compared to prices in other states, currently the matanee & child tricket prices are $6.00 and adult ticket prices are $8.50, which is still below the national average, and way below the prices in California which range from $8.50 to $10 for a matanee ticket and $12.50 to $14 for adult tickets. So over the next few years there is plenty of room for our local theaters to grow their profit margins to stay in a competitive range with theaters across the nation...

.

So butter up your popcorn ready (it’s free for butter), as you will most likely be seeing more rising prices at the movies in the near future…
