7-11 Mini Mart coming to SoDa RoW?

Yep that is right, I have heard from 3 sources now that a 7-11 Mini Mart might be coming to SoDa Row. And it would be just a Mini Mart (not a gas station). I am in between on this one; I can see how a 7-11 could drive traffic to SoDa RoW which would help bring more business to the other merchants in SoDa RoW. On the hand, I am not sure we want that much or that type of traffic in SoDa RoW….humm.

What are your thoughts about that?

I am for it on two conditions. There would be no gasoline sales now or in future. Second, I do not want it open 24 hours a day. I would like to see it close 11 pm and open at 6 am.

Would this 7-Eleven be in addition to the proposed Maverick down the road by Early Lite? Has there been any progress on that?

I’m mixed on this as well…
First, I don’t believe a 7-11 type mini-mart would bring any more traffic than the proposed grocery store due to it being on SodaRow and the way that the stores are setup. But my issue is will this deter a small neighborhood grocery store from wanting to open on SodaRow? After all it would be competition for them. I’m also concerned about whether or not this is the type of store that would do well planted in the middle of a neighborhood. When I lived in Ontario, Canada it was common to see little mini-marts in neighborhoods but they carried a better selection.
