As most of us Daybreak residents already know the snow removal efforts by South Jordan City in Daybreak is not up to par. Only major streets are plowed by SJC and the other streets and the alleys ways are basically never plowed. Now to be fair it is the HOA’s responsibility to have the alley ways plowed (not SJC), however most residents have complained for years now about the lack of plowing on the streets and that the HOA is almost never not doing their job as far as the alley ways and the apartment parking lots in concerned.  And as many of you may not know I was told there is a lawsuit between Kennecott Land and South Jordan City regarding some snow-removal equipment, I was told that South Jordan City thinks Kennecott Land should provide equipment, and now since the lawsuit most of the South Jordan City employees and officials will not even talk to Kennecott Land, it’s funny how things come around. KL tries to limit and play the access game with residents and now it’s their turn…

   And just recently South Jordan City has decided to no longer plow dead end streets, yet they have never publically announced this to the residents of South Jordan.  So now even fewer streets in Daybreak will be plowed this winter, so you better get your shovels and boots ready because your will be shoveling lot of your own streets and some lip service you will get from the HOA if you even bother to ask them for help, which you will not get.

   In my opinion the only two components that seems to be working within the HOA and our community is the DCC staff (costs are down and things seem to be working there without issue, per my updates from residents) and I heard favorable input this year on the lake boating facility. With that being said we desperately need a management overhaul at the BOD and HOA level. Right now we have HOA employees being above par wages and they always seem to complain about being understaffed and over worked, which is a load of crap. The problem with the BOD and the HOA is BAD “best practices”, and yes there are a few BOD and HOA employees who have made it clear that they could care less about the opinions of the Daybreak homeowners by being dishonest with the Daybreak homeowners and the community (no need to name names, feel free to do that yourself in the comments). I mean look at the situation with the relationship with the South Jordan City and Kennecott Land, it is worse than it is was two years ago, and now with the lawsuit, it’s going to get worse before it gets better, trust me. If you think the HOA and the BOD don’t care about the opinions of the Daybreak Homeowners or the financial state of the Daybreak Homeowners budget then you shouldn’t be surprised that you’re current and newly elected South Jordan City officials Larry Short and Brian Butters care even less, they have never attended any Daybreak related meetings, never once.

   So the bottom line is, that it’s not getting better anytime soon…unless more people get involved and we have a personal change at KL and the HOA…which I highly doubt is going to happen anytime, unfortunately we live in an apathetic society and I don’t see that changing anytime soon…

All we can do is do our best make as many people aware of what is going on and try our best to get more people involved.
