Daybreak 2010 Events & Activities Calendar Print E-mail
Written by Scoop

Here is the Daybreak 2010 Event & Activities Calendar, I have been swamped the past few months, so kinds behind on stuff, sorry about that. Not much new here, although there are a few things missing this year, no Casino Night or Valentines Prom event’s. With the way the things are going with the economy there are some budgets cuts that needed to be made, although it is odd CCMC hired 5 new employees (CCMC claims that the move could end save up to $20k doing so), we’ll see…

.

In my opinion the Daybreak HOA (CCMC) is already overstaffed and overpaid, but hey CCMC’s first priority is to make money for CCMC. Anyways, more to come soon…

Holiday Thought and Sharing! Print E-mail
Written by Scoop
Tuesday, 22 December 2009 19:27

This is a message of hope, a glimpse of sunrays, and steady in faith for the holiday season.  Times could not be more pressing, ending a year to end all years. Some of us have made it to the finish line a bit more bruised, somewhat frayed, and a little less shinny.

.

However, we have made it, by the grace of our faith, our family, and our friends. We are all connected by more than the internet; we are part of mankind, each facing a journey and path good, bad, or status quo. Each of us has a measure of gifts and abundance to share depending on our blessings.

.

Some of us have faced uncertainty, trials, and challenging travels but each of us can reflect in the goodness of our sphere of influence, and our inner strength, I send you a Christmas blessing for your soul, and for your heart. Share it with your family, and as we approach the holiday season, and the end of a very blistering year, be thankful for one thing, bring it to our heart, and stand sturdy for the upcoming year and know that someone cares, and the thoughts and focus on important things will help you face tomorrow.

.

I hope you have a Happy Holidays, and a Very Merry Christmas.

.

All the best,

.

Sorry for the delay in getting this up, been swamped at work...

.

I wanted to start off by saying that my elbows and shoulders are not double jointed so I can’t pat myself on the back as did CCMC, but I appreciate all of your support and emails keep them coming, I hope you enjoy the real Daybreak website. Attached you will find the 2009 annual review docs from CCMC (Daybreak HOA), the first is the year in review from the HOA which is useless and the second is the meeting Q’s and Answers (some of which is very misleading, which I will get into soon).

.

So to start here is a look at what happened in Daybreak in 2009 (just the big stuff which you can read about in past articles on the site):

.

Oquirrh Mountain Temple opened

.

Oquirrh Lake beaches opened

.

Oquirrh Lake gets roundworm

.

Early Light Academy opened

.

SoDa Row Opened

.

Now as I read through the HOA review I see many strange comments, like the fact the HOA is taking pride in replacing dead trees with Daybreak Homeowners money? This is crazy, the HOA has dropped the ball for the past two years in identifying the dead tree’s so that that Valley Crest can replace them for free (we have a one year warranty on all trees planted). Why should the homeowners pay for them…The excuse used as to why we do not have open bids for the general landscaping is because Valley Crest offers one year warranties on landscaping, so if we are not using it then allow open bidding so some of the Daybreak Homeowners money can be preserved. The Dog Park is still not done and should not be opened since it is not maintained or safe for the dogs from time to time, the HOA and the BOD has promised to fix the ongoing issues but have not delivered,  I am sure most of you are not surprised.  And there is much more fluff in there read it for yourself, if you are looking for a good laugh.

Get Out and Explore: Christmas Lights in Daybreak Print E-mail
Written by Elly

Is it just me, or are the holiday decorations sparse around Daybreak this year? Where are all the Christmas lights? Surely not everyone’s lights were strung up by a couple of boys with more enthusiasm than working knowledge of electricity like at my house—the resulting total Christmas light blackout has yet to be sorted out by my husband and I, we’re still working up the motivation. Is it the economy? A stronger desire to conserve electricity? Or are we all just too pressed for time this year? Whatever the reasons, Daybreak just doesn’t seem as brightly lit this year as it has in the past. Nevertheless, if you’re looking for a short free light tour, there are still enough brightly glowing houses in Daybreak to lighten up your holiday and entertain your family for half an hour on a cold evening.

Last Sunday evening, the kids and I piled into the car for an ooh-and-ahh Christmas light tour around Daybreak. If you decide to take one yourself, make sure you check out our favorite houses (homeowners, I really hope you don’t mind that I’m posting a photo of your house online—take it as a compliment):

House with lights If you're driving through Founder's Village, you can't pass by this house (and the one next to it) on Zephyr Way without at least a second glance. It was the crowd favorite in our car.
