Spring is coming and I'm starting to think Fencing! I have a small yard, but want to fence it. So my question to you is: Who did you use to put up your fencing? Did you hire it all out? Do it yourself?

Looking for advice!

I hired mine out to Singleton Fence and they did a great job and gave me a good deal. It only cost about 25% more to have them do it than to buy the materials and do it myself.

Stay away from Best Vinyl. They really like $5000 as a starting point and will not warranty any damage caused by their installation. (i.e. sprinkler systems)

Vinyl Industries is a train wreck as a fence installer, too.

Due to the economy, now is a good time to haggle.

I actually did use Best Vinyl and liked them. They charged us (my neighbor and myself) $800 for our yards to be fences, including having coring done, and they installed a slip post so we can easily take down the fence if we need access to our backyards (the gate was pricey and neither us or our neighbors thought we needed it). They were the cheapest we found for such a small area. They were also great at getting out fast, and coming back several days later when they discovered after coring that we had major settlement issues that needed to be resolved by the builder before continueing. As Davix said... it isn't much more to just have the fence installed either. It was worth it to us. Oh, and I would avoid home depot and lowes for fencing too... they were over double what we paid for just materials!

Wow $800 is a great price. How many linear feet did that cover? (My yard is quite small too)

I'd have to check. I believe it was around 25 feet (we have extremely small yards!). The biggest chunk of it was from the coring which most places wanted to charge us $250 per hole and we had 5 of them! Yikes! Don't forget to check with any neighbors that would share it too. They may be more than willing to chip in for the fence. We were surprised when ours said they would split it without batting an eye (we had 2 seperate contracts and were billed seperately but it was all installed at once).
