I'm unsure of the security scheduling but the patrol is targeted at the lake, only, and I suspect that it is not provided at other than the hours of heightened usage. (days and evenings) Does anyone know if it is in place at other times?

The secuirty patrol also drops down into the Skate Park area in an effort to curve some of the problems taking place there. This was done as an agreement between concerned home oweners, the HOA, and the BOD. However, according to my neighbors who have their houses facing the skate park, the security person typically avoids going by the actual skaters. It's almost like the security person is afraid of the skaters too.

A month or so ago I saw people on ATV's riding around the lake. I called the Police sub station but only got a recording. I was able to track down the security guard and report the issue.

Yeah, i don't think the security person will be able to handle all the issues in Daybreak, esp we only have one. The residents (us) will probably have to get involved and reported whenever we see anything (even though it's going to extra effort).

Maybe this is where the neighborhood watch might come in handy. I assume the vandalism ocurrs late at night. That's when the younger crowd hang out near the lakes (not family).

Does anyone know the phone number to call (or just 911) when reporting a crime?

801-254-4708 you can also fill out an on-line report (depending on the crime) http://www.southjordancity.org/publicsafety/police-crimereport.asp

Please don't take this response as flip but we are experiencing the same issues at the same time in the same place. Since the first drop of water landed in the lake, we have had the same destruction of property. As the weather gets warmer, we will have outlandish behavior like bridge diving and underage (and overage) drinking. Now that 114th is open on both ends and traffic from outside of the community has increased, it's going to get worse.

Daybreak has had security for the last three years. Last year the city added "Park Rangers". Guess what, we still had destruction, drinking, and outlandish behavior.

These kids aren't stupid. Many of them live in Daybreak and know exactly when and where security will be. They also know the area better than the new Park Rangers, so getting away or staying out of sight is easy.

The lake is an attractive nuisance. The more eyes and ears we have watching for activity, the better. But, until we have a watch posted every night until 4am, it's gonna happen.

BTW, another community warm weather pass time has started, car/house egging. If I catch them, I won't be as nice as the police.
