Hooray! I am so excited to see an event here. I hope it does a couple of things:

1. Show people that the water is not untouchable.
2. Puts the "amenity" to good use vs. a big pond that we are allowed to walk around.

I also hopes that it help motivate me to get out more . We really do have beautiful neighborhoods.

We live in EL, wife and i signed up for tri, great chance to swim in the lake, oh yeah, is there any evidence that the lake is polluted, haven't seen any, is it myth? Remember something in home contract that the enviro's cleared the development and gave it a "clean" seal of approval. It gets annoying that unsubstantiated fears of pollution prevent people from living the good life.

It costs about $100, don't know where the $10 figure came from.

The Oquirrh Lake Radio Club (www.k7olr.org) will be providing support for this event. Should be a lot of fun!

Talked to KL, water has passed rigorous testing, no discarded uranium rods in the lake. Actually gets pumped through several filters from the Utah Lake/Jordan River water system, so cleaner than Utah Lake at least, can't wait for the tri. I've got the data if anyone is interested.

I would be interested in seeing that, Dave. The type of membrane that was used on our lake is an uncommon type and considering a few other bits of information I've heard from people who have been in on the planning, I'd like to see some verification. I've never understood the "untouchable" theory but I don't think the lake is as clean as people would like to believe either. And yes, definitely cleaner than Utah Lake... can't wait to see the impact from the carp removal there. Hopefully it should get the algal blooms under control!

Attached are the water quality results for Oquirrh Lake. The water is from Kennecott Water Right shares of Utah Lake and the North Jordan Canal. Once the water is diverted from each source it is pumped to a surge pond and then run thought a sand filter and flocculent treatment process.
